Band of Thieves has captured Rock-n-Roll.
Their "Outlaw Spirit" is the essence of
Rock Legends of the past. Tyler Rann,
the front man, assembled the perfect
group of guys, Gitano Herrera (Lead
guitar), Peter Smith (Rhythm guitar),
Leigh Nelson (Bass) and Anthony
Riscica (Drums). They all re-create the
energy and the attitude to bring Rock-n-
Roll back to its rightful place. Their in-
fluences include Faces ( with Rod
Stewart), The Rolling Stones and Led
Zeppelin. You can definitely tell by listening
to their music these great bands had an
impact but Band of Thieves has a "dan-
gerous element" all their own. They want
to be a gateway for young people to get
back to Rock-n-Roll. Tyler said they
want to create an atmosphere at their
concerts where people from young to
old can dance, have a good time and
there's a whole lotta shakin' goin' on.
Their first single, "Women" is receiving
airplay in major markets like New York
and Chicago. Tyler said Woman is
his favorite cut off of the CD because
it is so upbeat. The band has plans for
a video but it's such an amazing and
unusual idea that they are keeping
us in suspense until its release.
Inspiration comes easily to Tyler, who
writes a majority of their music but
always with input of the other talented
members of the band. Being from the
lower east side of Manhattan where
the events, people and art are always
inspiring he can always find something
new and exciting to move their listeners.
In writing songs I have a special rela-
tionship between myself and the
audience. It's always an honor to write
something that inspires them or brings
back a memory. The band prefers
touring because being in studio, while
rewarding, is too clinical. Tyler said,
"Live is where the songs take their
life ; from the reaction of people. It's
really magical." Be sure to listen to
